The University of Arizona Roller Hockey Club provides a unique experience for the many athletes involved in our organization. Our club dedicates itself to providing an atmosphere of competition, athleticism, community, and dedication to our athletes. A dedication to treat them with the respect and professionalism of an elite school-sponsored program with the price, flexibility, and personalized attention of a club program. Our flexibility allows us to build a community that the athlete is proud to be a part of, but with the freedom to enjoy the full college experience. All while playing the sport that we all love against skilled teams from around the country.
Our club plays in the National Collegiate Roller Hockey Association (NCRHA) with over 175 teams and 2,000 players, nationwide. The NCRHA in conjunction with league Alumni created "Coast-2-Coast", a free podcast that covers the league players, stats, rankings and more. Our conference is the Western Collegiate Roller Hockey League (WCRHL) with over 20 teams coming from Californa and Arizona to compete. What we offer
The Wildcats offer many benefits for hockey players who are interested in or are attending the University of Arizona. Our club has two teams that compete at the Division II & Division IV levels ensuring that players of all skill can play competitive hockey at a level suited for their individual skills. Our games are played at events throughout the season in a tournament-style to guarantee our athletes are not driving hours to play a single game and have many weekends to themselves without hockey interfering with the fantastic social life our school has to offer. The team provides a community for students old and new, with stability and support from teammates and coaching staff to promote success on the rink and in the classroom. We host volunteer events with the AZ Junior Wildcats, which has teams with kids from ages 4 to 17, where we run clinics, help with practice and coach. We offer leadership roles for athletes who express interest in helping with the administration side of the team that provides valuable experience into how an organization runs. Finally, we supply our team with equipment that makes them proud to be part of the club. From jackets to helmets, we want to ensure you look good on and off the rink. Here at the University of Arizona, we understand that hockey is more then a game and we wan't to encourage the values and traditions that make our University and the game so great. If you have any questions about our team, please reach out to us - we want to hear from you!
The typical cost of a season ranges from $850-$1,200, and the school requires all student-athletes to have a 2.0 overall GPA to compete. We do our best to make your money go as far as possible within our club to provide the best we can for our athletes. The season dues, which are broken into two payments, includes hotel, travel, league fees, team helmets, jerseys, pants and practice time. Additional expenses can arise if we are invited to compete at Nationals. We have competed at Nationals for the last three years, and that usually requires an additional payment of $200-$500. With your dues, you also get access to athletic trainers, doctors, facilities, and a kitchen provided by the school to all club athletes. Our team locker room, which is located at the Tucson Indoor Sports Center, can store gear in a locked room overnight if needed. The arena also has an array of games you can 'drop-into' if you are looking to play more frequently.
